Just dropped: Brothers in Roots sour ale with turmeric and ginger
An experimental sour where the vibrant tartness of passion fruit meets a zing of ginger and the depth of turmeric.
Brothers in Roots is another step in the experimental direction of the Mojo Workin' series: a sour where we did not stop at fruitiness, but consciously headed towards a more earthy, spicy world. The starting point was passion fruit, but it was clear from the beginning that this beer would not be a classic, easily decipherable sour. The goal was to create a more layered, exciting character — something that refreshes and provokes thought at the same time.
The result is a dynamic yet complex sour ale: the tropical sour base is complemented by the mildly spicy dynamism of ginger and the warm, earthy depth of turmeric. It's a combination that seems unusual at first, but sip by sip, it comes together — and that's precisely the point.

Where did the idea for this beer come from?
In the Mojo Workin' series, we always look for flavor pairings that are unconventional at first, but they work.
We wanted to complement the sour base with a more earthy, spicy direction. Hence came the trio of passion fruit, ginger, and turmeric as a "root-based" concept.
What is the main twist or specialty?
Alongside the sour, fruity base is a warm, mildly spicy character. The freshness of ginger and the earthy depth of turmeric give it a completely new dimension. It's both invigorating and complex, more than just a classic fruity sour.
What are the most important ingredients or flavor notes?
Passion fruit provides the vibrant, tropical sour backbone. Ginger adds a fresh, mildly spicy layer. Turmeric rounds off with a subtly earthy, warm tone.
What experience should someone expect when tasting it for the first time?
Initially, an intense, fruity sourness hits, quickly followed by a spicy twist. At the end of the sip, a pleasantly warm, mildly spicy finish remains. It's an exciting, layered experience that invites you to taste it again and again.
Who do you recommend it for, and on what occasions?
For those open to unconventional, slightly experimental beers. It's a perfect choice for a tasting evening or conversational, "exploratory" occasions. But it also works on a summer day if someone is looking for a refreshing drink with a twist.
