The Galactic Defender has arrived, this year's green label Double NEIPA from MONYO. This beer is one of the purest joys of the modern, hop-driven craft direction: a silky body, full mouthfeel, and intense tropical aromas in a form that is both distinctive and easy to drink. The Galactic Defender is for those who love a beer that makes a big statement in aroma, texture, and experience right from the first sip.

Galactic Defender Double NEIPA with Galaxy and Idaho7 Hops

The Galactic Defender is a Double NEIPA, where Idaho 7 and Galaxy hops form the backbone of the beer's character. The result is a silky batch filled with tropical fruit aromas, with passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and orange notes working in harmony. Despite its 7.7% alcohol content, it is not heavy but surprisingly well-drinkable, smooth, modern hoppy beer.

Conversation with the Product Maker

We spoke with brew master Ádám Mausecz about the Galactic Defender. We asked him to tell us where the idea came from, what makes this batch special, and what experience those can expect who try it for the first time.

Where did the idea for this beer come from?

The NEIPA is practically an indispensable element in a brewery's product lineup. The myriad of available hops and their inherent potential always provide an excellent foundation for new ideas. Therefore, it was almost self-evident that we would brew a new hop-forward batch early this year.

What's the main twist or uniqueness in it?

We had been experimenting with various hop preparations for a while, so it became natural to try this in an industrial environment as well. For this beer, we chose the Spectrum technology, and the Galaxy hops were included solely in this form. This gives it an additional layer and makes the batch exciting from a technological standpoint as well.

What are the most important ingredients or flavor notes?

In this style, everything revolves around the hops, so the two most important components of the Galactic Defender are clearly Idaho 7 and Galaxy. Both hops bring an intense, tropical fruit character, and together they provide a true aroma explosion. The beer's flavor is mainly characterized by passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and orange notes.

What experience should someone expect when tasting it for the first time?

For those open to new experiences, this will be a very direct and lovable entry into the world of modern hop-forward beers. The beer opens with tropical aromas, delivers a silky mouthfeel, and maintains that soft, fruity intensity that makes the NEIPA style so popular. Passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and orange accompany this flavor adventure all the way.

Who do you recommend it for and for what occasion?

Although the Galactic Defender comes with a 7.7% alcohol content, its character suggests it's more of a well-drinkable, conversational beer. It's a batch where one or two glasses can easily go down during a friendly drinking session, especially if someone is seeking the fruity, hop-forward, yet not bitter line. It's not a heavy, slow beer but an enjoyable, lively piece.

Is there any behind-the-scenes insight or fun fact about it?

An interesting detail is that we used only a minimal amount of high-protein grains, such as wheat, which is not typically common in this style. While this is usually more prevalent in NEIPAs, here we built the body and texture from another direction. From a technological standpoint, this makes the beer somewhat stand out from the usual NEIPA approaches.
